Soon, you and your rival will part ways to venture on your respective Pokemon journeys. Your rival introduces you to the current state of the region depending on your version.
You soon meet your neighbor and soon-to-be rival, Maxim. You will start off from Troika Town, a small, relatively peaceful and undisturbed village in the middle of the Khitan region. The difference in plot for the two games will affect the gameplay. In Pokemon Dark, the Player instead enters the region as Team Change. In Pokemon Light, the Player enters the region as it is being taken over by Team Unity. But in the midst of unrest, some still hope that one day it will return under the guidance of a powerful Trainer and bring balance and peace to their region. However, that Pokemon has disappeared for ages and its powers long forgotten. It was once said that the Khitan region was home to the Enlightenment Pokemon, the One that truly thinks and rises above order and chaos, mastering the two elements of the world. Their ultimate objective is to create a military force of human and Pokemon, overthrow governments and create an anarchy in the region through unleashing the Chaos Pokemon.Įither side presents a desire for the better of their people, however as we see they have been twisted and gone extreme with order and chaos. Their goal, like their philosophy, is opposite to that of the team that believed order instead of dividing human and Pokemon, they wanted to bring together and fuse their lives together. Their leader believed that their region's turmoil was due to the oppressive order established by the selfish regional governments. The latter was Team Change, the organization that embraced chaos. They would capture and destroy powerful Pokemon in the region, and therefore establish an order in the region where they would effectively control the people through unleashing the Order Pokemon. Their goal was to advance the world toward a new future where humans were dominant. Their leader believed that Pokemon were the source of chaos and the unrest in their region. The former was Team Unity, an organization that championed order. There are two groups who have forever battled each other, but neither have.
It is a region that struggles between the conflict brought about by chaos and the oppression created by order. There are no technologically advanced metropolitan cities seen in the other regions, for industry and agriculture is lain to waste. It is a war-torn region troubled by conflict for thousands of years. The Khitan region is a region located in the far north of the world, possibly even further than the Sinnoh region.
